Self-Righteous Or God-Righteous?
Proverbs 16:1-3 (KJV) The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits. Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
I hope you know that you cannot do the “God thing” on your terms and timing. Sadly, many souls are trying to learn about God and to serve Him without personally knowing Him. All this does it promote self-righteousness, evil practices, and has nothing to do with God. Lost hearts naturally promote self-righteous behavior in their dealing with God and others.
Spiritually softened souls who personally know God and enjoy sweet fellowship with Him naturally apply God-righteousness in their thought life, actions, and relationships with others. The holiness of God is a perpetual prized personal possession for those in a right relationship with Him. Not only do they possess God, but they pass His salvation message and character on to others, they meet and relate to in this corrupt world.
Godliness is at the opposite end of the spiritual spectrum from selfish living. God’s righteous nature shines through the cracks and crevices of His spiritual family as they sojourn in this wicked world. On the other hand, those living for self highlight the immoral nature of the god of this world.
