Senseless Treasures and Eternal Riches From God
Luke 12:16-21 (KJB) And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
It can be challenging for a sincere child of God to learn discernment and to differentiate earthly treasures and separate them apart from the lasting riches of God. However, each professing child of God must learn to distinguish between earthly treasures and lasting gifts which only come from God.
This is such a serious matter for each of us to consider for not doing so will be the difference between enjoying eternal life with God or facing agony apart from God for all eternity. It does not make sense to forfeit eternal spiritual life found inside sweet fellowship with God for gaining senseless pleasure that will not last but will only rot and ruin according to time and chance.
God desires for each of us to find eternal lasting treasure in Him, not in aligning with things of this world.
A sincere child of God desires to have and to hold onto the endless riches of God. Lost hearts will find pleasure in the wicked works of this world and sell their soul for senseless earthly treasures that will fade and rust away.
