Sin Hampers Your Relationship with God
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2 KJV)
God in His infinite perfection and righteousness cannot have anything to do with sin.
Sinning after salvation is like placing a stop sign or period upon God’s narrow pathway. Unrepentant sin hinders our personal fellowship with God. It is like a clogged artery or having a stopped up toilet. The flow may diminish ever so slightly at first but eventually can be completely obstructed.
Our fellowship with God can suffer accordingly as a result of any lingering “spiritual congestion.” At first our fellowship with God loses some intimacy, or spiritual closeness, but left to continue, it can become occluded more greatly. There is only one way to clear away any “spiritual bottleneck” present in your personal relationship with God.
God’s Word gives us the prescription for separation prevention between us and God:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 KJV)
