Sojourn in Fear
1 Peter 1:17 (KJB) And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear.
There is much valuable eternal information for us to hear and take to heart found in this verse. First up, please duly note the word “if” located in this verse.
“If ye call on the Father…” sets the spiritual tone for a proper understanding of God’s message. This spiritual stipulation precedes a critical promise. Why, because a person cannot count on this eternal promise from God without personally calling on God in prayer for receiving His help in this matter.
Did you know that the condition of your prayer life precedes reaping this promise of God?
Not only that but having a healthy spiritual fear of God with all humbleness comes to life in the heart of every child of God before he or she can obtain God’s power, potential, purposes, and perpetual nature.
God calls for each of us to sojourn in fear in this world. This kind of fear is not one where you must hide in the corner and tremble about what might happen in the next moment. Or fear about what may be coming on the horizon of tomorrow. No, a healthy fear of God sets Him up close and personal at the helm of your life. It allows Him to lead and to cause a sincere child of God to have a proper heart reverence and respect for the power and purposes of God.
A healthy fear of God allows a person to purpose his life according to God’s will and way. A proper reverence of God in this world eliminates the need for God’s judgment for his works upon physical death. Such a person has already judged himself against God’s righteous standard and found to be innocent standing before God.
