Some Days Our Boat Rocks in the Waves of Life
James 1:2-3 (KJB) My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Every professing Christian can be fooled into choosing to follow the pulling of his flesh. Some seasons of life are composed of treacherously dark and alluring waves beating against a man’s short spiritual fuse. In these tense times, there is always ample opportunity for a man to stretch his faith by choosing to rely upon the eternal supernatural power, protection, and promises of God rather than chasing his own fleeting desires.
Every man can choose to allow God to man his rocking boat in the middle of tempting swells and storms of life.
In spiritually persistent circumstances, as great swelling waves threaten to capsize his boat, a man will often strain and strive for the power and presence of God, however, when rough seas abate, his perspective can easily be led adrift, moving from things of God, to his own selfish desires.
When a man changes his outlook from God to self it will only culminate bitterness and deflate his joy often causing great waves to swell in his life and to rock his boat once again.
These scripture verses found in the book of James remind every child of God, especially as he faces giant waves, to joyfully focus intently upon God and His eternal and unlimited power and presence. Doing so will fortify his faith, develop patience and persistence, and starve any spiritual sourness or deflate any lingering doubts and fear.
