Sometimes God Says “Pack and Move”
Genesis 12:4-5 (KJB) So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. 5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
Abram moved when the Lord said to him “GO.” Not only did Abram move out of Haran, but his nephew went with him as well. This caravan included wives and children, and everything owned was packed and stowed away for this necessary physical and spiritual journey.
God had instructed them to move from Haram to the land of Canaan. This was to be quite a journey. As you likely noticed, Abram posed no concerns or questions to God about this journey. He heard God’s direction and obeyed. Though confidence in God is not outrightly mentioned in these verses, you can bet that Abram relied upon God and placed trust in His divine direction as he departed according to His instructions for this important journey to Canaan.
Often, if you are like me, we take some time to mull over God’s instructions. To think about the move God has presented before us as we take some time to pack our bags before moving our feet in obedience to His commands.
However, God desires that we react to his plan for our life as Abram did. God desires that we Jump up and submit to His divine direction given for our life. We can choose to step out in this world packing and moving with great confidence wherever God has instructed. We know that God has certainly prepared our journey as we sojourn in this world.
