Sorrow Unto Repentance
2 Corinthians 7:9-10 (KJB) Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
It is a sad thing that many souls profess faith. Still, a number is either lost or wayward spiritually speaking and have subsequently replaced repentance to God concerning personal sin an instead are offended when their sin is laid bare naked. Many souls consequently are embarrassed, but not about the sin at work in their life, but rather that they got caught in sin.
A sincere regenerated soul reaches out to God for forgiveness for personal sin, in essence, agreeing with God about the spiritual nature of sin. At the same time, the other “lost-soul” camp desires to hide their sin, being offended about it being pointed out to others and its constant prodding of their heart to acknowledge and to recognize God.
There is no lasting triumph or life in being offended with the uncovering of sin. Eternal victory and life forever come only in sorrowing unto repentance unto God concerning the presence of sin and the wages of death. Sorrowing unto repentance is the hallmark of the life of every genuine child of God who desires to both serve and savor God and to move away from sin.
