Spiritual And Carnal Natures
Romans 7:14-16 (KJV) For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
The Apostle Paul elegantly speaks about the sin nature at work in the flesh and God’s spiritual nature. He, of all people, understands the magnitude and weight of sin and the power of sin collectively at work in this corrupt world. More importantly, the Apostle Paul can speak volumes about the grace available inside a personal relationship with God, which stands above any power working on this earth.
The spiritual forces at work in this world speak to our flesh and drive the actions and words of lost souls. However, those who have placed trust in the power and presence of God for the salvation of their soul can hear and follow the divine voice and direction of God rather than submitting to the god of this world.
Yes, indeed, the Apostle Paul understands how both the carnal flesh and God’s spiritual nature operate in this corrupt world. Though these opposing forces can create quite a stir, God already has the victory in hand.
