Such a Time as This
Esther 4:13-14 (KJB) Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews. 14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Time was of the essence. Esther could not remain silent for a time when the Jewish people, including herself, were in such spiritual danger. She knew that she must speak up to the king, whatever the consequences to her own life.
Oh, you know the feeling. Time is quickly fading away, you must run down the court and make a slam dunk to “save the day.” That surgery must turn out okay if only this car can make it 1000 more miles if only I could live just another year …..
Though we do not live in the times in which Esther lived we do sometimes receive a season calling for prayer and extraordinary moves directed by God. Perhaps a life or other lives may lay on the line requiring us to move and make a solid decision on the fly. Making the wrong move, or the wrong choice could be devastating to another.
We can either rely on time and chance and hope everything turns out okay in the battles of life. Or we can choose to rely upon the power, presence, and direction of God to work in and through our lives.
Esther moved forward without fear knowing what she had to do in order to save her people. She did not stumble at the thought of being brave, nor did she get lost in the details. Esther put this situation in prayer with God and moved forward according to His will and direction upon her life.
Are you ready for such a time when God may call on you to save a few lives by dunking a few hoops in the game of life according to His will and way? Esther was willing and ready and allowed God to call the shots she needed to make a difference in many lives.
