Suffering for Doing Right

1 Peter 4:19 (KJB) Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Doing right in God’s estimation, even though it most often involves trials and suffering does have great rewards but perhaps not in receiving such “spiritual booty” in a tangible manner or potential realized in this world.  Choosing to do right should be tied solely to a heartfelt desire to serve and please God rather than what benefits and treasures a person can receive from his spiritual fruit production.

Anotherwards, suffering for doing right should be expected in this world according to John 16:33, and other like verses.  Certainly, you will agree that any suffering a person experiences on this earth, according to the will of God at work in his life, is much different than any misery given to a lost man according to the natural consequences of his spiritually ill God opposing choices.

Receiving a reward for well-doing in honoring God is promised for every sincere professing child of God.  However, each child of God realizes his greatest reward is the certainty of God’s hand in creation, divine direction, discernment on this wicked earth, and to top it off to receive uninterrupted sweet fellowship with God to come in eternity.

Any blessings a child of God receives this side of heaven are merely a down payment of his or her spiritual reaping in the future.  Likewise, every lost spiritual heart is guaranteed to reap the spoiled fruit of their chosen consequences; both in the here and now and especially upon meeting Jesus Christ on bended knee in eternity.

God is faithful, especially to His own spiritual family.  Certainly, He will bring to fruition eternal rewards for every good thing as well as dire eternal penalties He has promised for lost souls.  For a child of God, rewards of following Christ certainly will include suffering in doing right and the certainty of his or her home in eternity.  For the lost at heart, death and judgment of God is sure for God is faithful in all things.
