Living in A Dry Wasteland
Psalm 63:1-2 (KJB) A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
As you read through these two passages can’t you just feel David’s ... Continue Reading →

He Encampeth Round About Them
Psalm 34:7 (KJB) The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Isn’t this such a wonderfully cozy promise from God. The word encampeth in this verse brings to my mind a picture of warm and fuzzy blanket wrapped tightly around me bringing certain warmth and protection. It is a spiritual illustration of how God wraps His unending love around those who choose to humbly submit to Him and ... Continue Reading →

Saul Could See the Wise Spiritual Nature at Work in David
1 Samuel 18:14-15 (KJB) And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him. 15 Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.
Do you ever meet another person whose very presence shines vividly with the identity and purpose of Christ? Godly people are few and far between in this spiritually dark world. Why, because many people ... Continue Reading →

David Asked Himself a Great Question
Psalm 116:12 (KJB) What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?
David was overly concerned about another who had spoken ill of him. Rather than continuing to concentrate any further with misdirected energy on this particular incident, David chose to refocus his mind upon things of God.
Wow! What a way to remove oneself from fretting over an adverse situation and move victoriously on to things of an eternal nature. ... Continue Reading →

A Gravely Ill or Injured Child
2 Samuel 12:22-23 (KJB) And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? 23 But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
David had a young infant child who became gravely ill.
This illness ... Continue Reading →

Hitting Rock Bottom
Psalm 40:1-2 (KJB) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
When a man comes to the end of himself and hits the place of spiritual rock bottom” there is no other direction for him ... Continue Reading →

Born A Sinner
Psalm 51:5 (KJB) Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
David was heartbroken in this verse. Not because somebody had done something to him, but because of what he chose to do to himself. It is quite an eye opening picture a man can get when he realizes his natural standing before the holiness and righteousness of God.
A man cannot truly look to God without seeing a sincere picture of ... Continue Reading →

Be a man!
1 Kings 2:1-2 (KJB) Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, 2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man.
King David spoke to his son Solomon in his old age as he was nearing death urging Solomon to be a man!
True men seem to be in short supply these days as many are choosing the way ... Continue Reading →

God’s Unlimited Blessing
Psalm 37:25-26 (KJB) I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. 26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
David was looking in the rear-view mirror as his past unraveled before his eyes. He could see the faithfulness of God who always provided just what was needed whenever a need arose. David could always count on the providence of God, ... Continue Reading →

Like A Broken Vessel
Psalm 31:12 (KJB) I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
A broken vessel is not of use as it was originally intended.
This verse, recorded by David, implies he felt his life was over, was not valuable, and was like a broken bottle not good for anything.
Perhaps David felt he would be better off dead because he was not useable for anything.
Likely you and I have felt worthless ... Continue Reading →
