Would you recognize Jesus teaching Truth?
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. (Mark 1:22 KJV)
Jesus was often found in the synagogue preaching. This passage says that these particular Jews were astonished at His teaching. His method was set apart or remarkably different from the approach from the scribes who usually stood at the pulpit often inserting the law, tradition, opinion, and what was inspired to be written upon scrolls along with truths of scripture. Today we have the complete and inspired Bible for man to teach and preach from the entire canon of scripture.
Currently some do rely heavily upon faulty bible perversions, man’s commentaries and public opinion mixing them all together with Truths of God’s Word. We end up with a hodgepodge or variety of means people use to divide God’s Word along with applications that are not contextually appropriate to the scripture passages.
If Jesus were to step into the pulpit making an unplanned appearance as a teacher, many in the crowd would not recognize Him and He would not be able to identify with their polluted doctrine. Many would be unable to recognize His spiritual presence and authority.
His Word has a proven track record over time of reliability, even as man’s opinion and traditions waver and fluctuate according to any contrary wind and adverse circumstances blowing about in this word.
