The Prophet Daniel exhibited godly submission and obedience.
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29 KJV)
God has placed earthly authorities over us as we sojourn upon this earth. Just like in ancient biblical times, not all those in authority over us are ruling according to the principles and precepts of God. There are both evil and good leaders set in places of power over us.
God expects that we will live in submission to those in power over us unless or until they direct our lives in a direction that goes against the grain, or in opposition to God’s Word. His Word is to be the basis for our godly submission to those who are set in place to rule over us.
Just as Peter and the other apostles agree in this verse “we ought to obey God rather than men…” still rings true for today. God desires His own spiritual family to place obedience to His Word and His will as the utmost authority upon their lives as they sojourn upon this earth. That means at times when the world’s wicked leaders anticipate man will live in a way that is in direct opposition to the commandments and teachings of God they should declare, as did the Prophet Daniel, steadfast allegiance to God first and foremost. This allows God to direct and carve their way forward along His narrow pathway.
