Take Up Your Cross August 2nd 2015

God’s spiritual family is a work in progress upon this earth.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 KJV)

Man uses chemicals called preservatives to keep foods fresh and appealing over an extended length of time.  Preservatives are added to keep food stable and retard spoilage, without these chemicals, shelf life of many foods would be reduced.  We work to preserve our physical bodies through maintaining a proper diet and exercise.

Our spiritual life must be properly sustained or preserved.  This is only accomplished through the work of the Holy Spirit who preserves the quickened man’s soul.  Man cannot secure or preserve salvation in his own weakened abilities and strength as this requires the supernatural power of God.

Man does not give much thought to his own spiritual finesse and the condition of his heart.  If the heart condition is not right with God then there is a sin problem polluting the condition of the heart affecting the overall spiritual health.  There is a positional sanctification or spiritual preservation unto new spiritual life upon salvation by God as well as an ongoing sanctification process daily as man walks with God upon this earth.  Man’s spiritual walk with God is a progressive sanctification process throughout the lifetime of a saved individual which is tightly hinged together with being obedient to the will of God.

Those who walk submissively according to God’s will experience spiritual growth maturing unto greater and greater holiness.  While those who experience stunted spiritual growth have chosen not to honor and glorify God in all areas of life, resulting in underdeveloped or weak areas in their spiritual walk with God, as they sojourn upon this earth.
