Take Up Your Cross December 12th 2014

Parents rest your heart in the power of God for your child’s life.

And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. (Isaiah 35:10 KJV)

There are many saddened or disheartened parents out there because their kids, who were brought up attending church, have seemingly wandered away from the things of God.   A child who truly professed a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ will find their way back to hearing the Truth of God. Parents can find rest in the fact that God does not just let His own just wander away to be lost forever in the world. Often for those wandering away is to chasten and remove ungodly attributes from their life like pride and rebellion bringing about a deeper attitude of reverence and obedience to the things of God.

The word ransomed in this scripture verse means to be bought or paid for; as in paying a ransom amount for one held captive as in a child abduction case.  This verse is speaking in regards to the Jewish people who have been redeemed, or purchased by Christ’s death on the cross, and who will return to the land God has given them.  Not only will they return but they will be overflowing with joy singing praises as their sorrow and sadness flee away.

The Bible also mentions a parable about a prodigal son who returns to His Father.  God may have your son or daughter out in the back forty, or in the spiritual desert, to refine their relationship with Him by fire and purging.

However, if a personal relationship with Him never existed God can pry the years of accumulation of hardened matter off the eyes and ears of His eternally lost child; filling Him with the truths of God quickening him/her alive unto salvation.

The parent’s part is to pray and live by example of His great unconditional love and mercy towards them no matter their child’s circumstance.
