Are you spiritually ready; anticipating Christ’s return which could happen at any time?
He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. (Revelation 22:20 KJV)
The Apostle John penned the book of Revelation directly at the inspiration of God. John was so bowled over by the incredible things he saw as God gave him a glimpse into the third heaven that he was unable to contain his excitement; having no available descriptive words to capture the glory he had the opportunity to witness. John was not allowed to reveal all that he had seen submitting himself to God’s divine timing according to the will and way in this holy matter.
This scripture verse says “He which testifieth these things saith…” John is speaking of none other than He being Jesus Christ who is coming back quickly to the earth. The Bible does not tell us it will be a long drawn out visit but rather an event that happens in the twinkling of the eye. His coming will be sure and swift; leaving no time for those not already committed to God in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to change their spiritual tune, jumping off the gray fence, and into the heavenly realm with God.
John was not just inspired to write about this future event once, but three times in this twenty second chapter of the book of Revelation giving it great spiritual weight:
Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. (Revelation 22:7 KJV)
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (Revelation 22:12 KJV)
One mention of Jesus Christ’s return to earth in this chapter should be enough to warrant mankind’s undivided attention and to begin at once looking for His imminent return. However many individuals continue to be nonchalant or indifferent towards this definite future event. Even after many revelations and prophecies concerning Jesus Christ’s return in various places throughout the canon of scripture clearly indicating and promising that He will return. There are both instances which mention His return penned by others at the inspiration of God; and other verses which are spoken directly by Jesus Christ and recorded in scripture.
