Take Up Your Cross February 13th 2015

Are you naturally groaning or grazing in the goodness, mercy, and peace of God?

For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. (Romans 8:20-22 KJV)

“The creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope…” Man was made subject to the curse of sin and death, not because we desired it, but because it was necessary.  The wages of sin were set since the beginning of time.  The wages are death.  God had no choice but to demand the wage for sin which was committed in the Garden of Eden bringing about imminent physical death for all mankind.

Not only did God demand the wages of sin but He also granted eternal hope to whosoever would accept His free gift of eternal life by placing faith in Him.  God did expect death for the nature of sin but He also freely gave His great mercy and grace to any man who would accept it.  The wages of sin were marked paid in full for any who accepted His gift of eternal life and delivered from the burden of sin.

Creation has groaned and travailed since the onset of sin in the Garden of Eden.  Sin brings death and destruction to every created thing upon the face of this earth; but God offers hope, grace, mercy, and peace.

When God made all of creation in the beginning He said:

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Genesis 1:31 KJV)

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. (Genesis 2:1-2 KJV)

Every created thing was perfectly GOOD.  So GOOD in fact the seventh day God rested from His work.  But this rest did not last forever.

Sin entered the picture and the whole creation continually cries and moans: mankind, creatures, and the earth itself all face great trials and tribulations from sin which is rampant upon this earth.

takeupyourcrossredocmclearEverything in this earth is in a state of decay, death, and rust; fading away until the coming of a new earth which will reestablish nature in some new glorious fashion.  Mankind is slated for natural death for all eternity unless he personally has assurance of an eternal rest with God.
