Take Up Your Cross February 18th 2015

Do you have assurance, peace and joy?

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: (2 Corinthians 5:1-2 KJV)

“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved…”
is a reference to the death of our earthly bodies or tent of flesh.  It is speaking of physical death upon this earth.  To a Christian it is not the end of life when physical death comes but it is the beginning of our heavenly home with God forever.

The Bible tells Christians we can be confident in death:

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV)

For any man who does not have a personal relationship with God through faith; physical death is the end of their spiritual life.   Physical death means facing the second death in eternal Hell forever.  Physical death is the end of the spiritual road for any man who does not personally know God.

Mankind who is spiritually lost fears the onset of physical death facing an eternal sentence to Hell without God.  Those living in Christ rejoice upon their physical death ushered into the eternal presence of God forever.
