Do you follow after quirky traditions of man or the stability of a relationship with God?
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8 KJV)
There are many unsettled people in this world; even those individuals who profess to having a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Being unsettled, wavering, uncertain, or vacillating sitting on the fence between worldly ways and the way of God are characteristics of a life being lived according to the flesh and not according to the supernatural power of God.
Was your highlight this morning upon watching the antics of a groundhog possibly seeing his shadow meaning a longer winter according to man’s legend; or upon cracking open your Bible to study the living and inspired Word of God?
Many folks waste precious time looking unto traditions of man. Take the groundhog for example: either man believes it has value in predicting the weather or because they find humor in this quirky tradition. The Bible clearly tells us only God can control the various weather patterns and cycles; read Matthew 8:26-27 for further biblical insight into God’s sovereignty over weather.
A life based upon traditions or customs of men; Colossian 2:8, swirled together, or mixed with bits and fragments of the Truth of God’s Word, is a life hampered with uncertainty and instability causing many to be tossed about to and fro in rogue waves of life. Uncertainty is operating in opposition to a solid spiritual spectrum including a sure footed truth and salvation rooted in assurance of eternal life in God now and for all eternity rather than placing hope in shifting sands in this world.
Are you living double minded upon this earth with a generous portion of man’s tradition mingled with a “scoop” of the Truth of God’s Word creating a twisted or crooked message of the gospel having no supernatural power or lasting hope?
