Take Up Your Cross January 18th 2015

Have you unwrapped the perfect and precious eternal gift from God offered to whomsoever will accept it in faith?

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. (Psalms 19:7-10 KJV)

“The law of the Lord is perfect…..” we can stop right here after hearing these seven words and contemplate upon the holy characteristics of God and His perfect law.  His law has no blemish or spot associated with it in any way.  It is pure and perfect.  His law shines an illuminating light upon the state of natural imperfections which mar all mankind.

Thank God His holy narrative does not stop here while glaring the many flagrant natural imperfections of man.  God’s law is spiritually significant in revealing to us our many inadequacies.  Man’s eyes become illuminated according to the will of God; seeing their true spiritual condition against the holiness and blamelessness of God along with His offering of a free gift of new spiritual life forever in a personal relationship with Him.  An opportunity to be made perfect in Him is available for all mankind.

A personal choice is called for and this choice leads to an eternal home in the fires of Hell or opens an opportunity for dwelling in God’s presence forever.   This choice highlights an accurate picture of man’s spiritual condition of their heart accurately portraying man’s perception of the things of God; whether they are truly illuminated or discerned or not.

The Bible tells us Pontius Pilate, Judas, and the rich man mentioned in the book of Luke chose to blow their spiritual opportunity to live in submission to the holiness of God avoiding or suppressing an opportunity for a personal relationship with Him through faith; choosing instead to follow the wider path of the god of this world living in enmity to the things of God.

takeupyourcrossredocmclearWhat have you done with the free gift of salvation God has made available for all mankind; including you?  Have you unwrapped this delightful gift allowing Him to have His way; working in you and through you while sojourning in this world?
