Take Up Your Cross January 20th 2015

Are growing roots amid the muck and mud of this world or sojourning according to godliness and perfection of God?

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. (Psalms 40:1-3 KJV)

Anyone who has seen their ungodly reflection in the mirror in light of God’s holiness and perfection can honestly proclaim they have been brought spiritually alive out of a horrible pit.  A horrible pit is a spiritually dead existence built around the things of the god of this world.  This existence is one of hopelessness and despair, devoid of eternal hope, mankind chooses to place hope and dwell in things that are unstable and fleeting and operating in enmity unto the things of God; drugs, alcohol, gambling, uncontrolled anger, harsh treatment of others, and other in sinful acts as their mind and body are controlled by the darkness and evil of this world instead of operating under God’s  holiness and spiritual delight.

This Psalm is written by David declaring about the time he was living in a horrible pit of which he could not climb out of on his own; but God, in His own timing and way, removed David out of this dark and horrible pit setting his feet upon a sturdy spiritual foundation in God who led David according to His godly pattern establishing David upon the narrow pathway as he sojourned in life upon this earth.

God can do the same thing for anyone today who calls out to Him; viewing themselves in light of the holiness and perfection of God and understanding their need for His help in climbing out of the horrible pit amid the miry clay as their feet are sinking because they chose to dwell becoming rooted in the things upon this earth.

takeupyourcrossredocmclearHave you allowed God to lift you out of your horrible pit and onto His sure and eternal foundation setting your feet upon the narrow pathway upon this earth and upon street of Gold in the heavenly realm?
