Take Up Your Cross January 25th 2015

Are you offering sweet smelling worship unto God or derision and worthless adoration?

To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? (Isaiah 1:11-12 KJV)

God was watching the nation of Judah as they paraded forth to the altar bringing multiple sacrifices unto Him.  Not all sacrifices offered are pleasing unto God and some are downright insulting.  The nation of Judah was worshipping and sacrificing unto God but many did so out of habit or for the purpose of following the law; not from a heart softened unto the spiritual things of God.

The Bible tells us God intimately knows the spiritual temperature and health condition of our heart.  Mankind cannot offer service and worship to Him with an insincere attitude.  Many residents of the nation of Judah were offering insufficient or insincere sacrifices unto God serving to make a mockery of His law by offering sacrifices which were odiferous before God instead of sweet smelling all for the purpose of giving honor and glory to God.

Nothing has changed today many are offering false professions and half-hearted worship unto God from an insincere heart bringing God’s wrath and judgment upon them now and in the eternal realm to come.
