Have you judged yourself against the Truth of God’s Word or according to the opinion of mankind?
But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Romans 14:10-11 KJV)
The write of this Psalm was inspired by God to emphasize this point; all mankind will stand before the Lord one day “As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God…” This means that every individual will have to give a personal accounting to God for their life. I cannot answer for you and nobody can answer for me. We are all accountable before God for every facet of our life; even every hidden thing.
It is spiritually beneficial for each of us to be aware of our own standing or spiritual heart condition in light of the Truth of God’s Word. The disparity between us and the perfect righteousness of God keeps our focus upon Him instead of placing undue attention upon the spiritual condition of those around us; especially if we have a plank sticking out of our own eye!
God’s Word is sharp, cutting, and judges mankind righteously. Hearing His Word can bring about conviction leading to obedience and change according to God’s pricking of our heart. My opinion is powerless to change myself or others. Mankind’s opinion is often based upon a flimsy and fleeting foundation. Only the power of God’s Word can usher in changes in our spiritual condition aligning us closer in our personal relationship to the holiness and perfection of God and ever increasing the distance of separation between us and the god of this world.
