Are you genuinely content or found lacking in this world?
But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. (1 Timothy 6:6-9 KJV)
Genuine satisfaction is a great gain in this world. Not many find the secret to spiritual contentment coupled with godliness as they live in this world. Many look around at the things of this world, which seem to offer peace for their inner soul, but never quiet their inner longings and desires bringing about peace and satisfaction. Great contentment is only found by casting our eyes upward towards the great spiritual things of God which fill our soul to overflowing. He supernaturally provides for those who place their faith in Him all necessities of life; such as food, clothing, and spiritual jewels as God has allotted according to His good will in our life.
The Bible tells us in Psalm 23:
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. (Psalms 23:1 KJV)
God always has our best interests at heart and following His will and way brings about His desires in our life as He always has our best interests in mind. This does not mean that we will possess all things we lay our eyes upon; but He will provide all that we need for living upon this earth according to His perfect will for our lives.
Often Christians fall into a trap of beholding the things of the world around us which “call out” to us with empty promises to quiet our innermost desires. These worldly solutions are temporary and fleeting at best; bolting away at the first sign of trouble looming on the horizon. Leaving us flat and defeated and without hope as we crawl along in life; but the things of God empower us spiritually filling our lives to overflowing now and for all eternity.
