Give thanks to God in all stages of your spiritual life.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV)
God does not say give thanks for only the things you admire and cherish. Or give thanks for those things that have helped you or made you feel better. Or to give thanks for those times in your life that you felt accomplished and settled.
God’s Word says “In every thing give thanks.” This means those who are quickened alive unto Him are to view every situation of their life through God’s lens giving thanks for whatever situation they find themselves in according to His will whether it is pleasant or putrid circumstances at hand. This means both giving thanks for the storms of life along with times of great peace and quietness. Both ends of the spiritual spectrum are under God’s control according to His will and our obedience to Him.
One is often a time of learning, chastening, and spiritual growth; while the other is a time of reflection and rest. Both are important to our spiritual life as we sojourn upon this earth.
