Take Up Your Cross June 18th 2015

Has spiritual dirt been left to accumulate in your heart and flourish in God’s house?

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. (1 Peter 4:17-19 KJV)

Peter is talking about some major house cleaning inside the house of God.  He is not speaking about scrubbing those who are living outside of His house but about cleaning up those who profess the name of Christ making them spiritually presentable and useful unto Him.

God cannot have anything to do with sin.  Man is naturally sinful while God is naturally holy.  Man cannot put on the holiness of God; nor profess too “come clean” of his own accord and strength.  Putting on the pure garments of Christ requires spiritual quickening alive from the supernatural power of God settled in the finished work of His Son on the cross.  Only then can man be useful in spreading the gospel message of Christ to those who need to hear it according to God’s will.

If you have been spiritually quickened alive unto God then you must insist on keeping a short account of sin between you and Him; personally and within the workings of His church.   Keeping a short account requires that man judge himself according to the righteousness of God seeing his own sin as God sees it; therefore choosing to repent as convicted by the Holy Spirit dwelling within you.

Otherwise, making a profession of faith in God is merely lip service hollow and empty and without the supernatural cleaning power of God.  A profession of faith is serious spiritual business. Man cannot live for God and dwell in the dirtiness of sin at the same time.  A church cannot preach God’s Word and allow sin to grow and propagate inside His church.

takeupyourcrossredocmclearSin naturally flourishes among people who have not understood the gospel and been quickened spiritually alive.  Sin should not multiply and spread inside God’s people and His church.  Those who have rightly judged themselves against the truth of His Word flee from sin personally and in His house.
