Jesus the Perfect Sacrifice; once for all brings life. Serving other gods bring death.
What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp, And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people: (Leviticus 17:3-4 KJV)
Some of the Jewish people in Old Testament times were offering the shed blood of animals to sacrifice not unto God in the tabernacle as commanded; but unto idols and false deities. They chose to serve false gods rather than The God of heaven and earth, offering sacrifices apart from or away from His alter in the temple.
God soundly declared there was only one place to offer the shed blood sacrifice and that was in His holy temple. Many people choose to offer their loyalty and worship unto false idols today in this New Testament Age of Grace placing them in earthly objects or persons rather than unto God. He is the only one who is deserving of mankind’s devotion and reverence.
The Bible tells us throughout the canon of scripture that His shed blood is life. Without blood, which carries oxygen to our lungs and heart, man or beast cannot sustain life. His shed blood is new life. When God sent His only Son to shed His precious blood upon the cross it was for man’s LIFE; not as a picture of death. What hope would there be in death? Jesus shed His blood so that man can live a new life.
The sacrifice of animals offered by way of the priests in the Old Testament upon the altar was a picture of the sacrifice once for all to come. Today man lives in an age when the perfect sacrifice, Jesus Christ, has already been offered on the cross at Calvary. Jesus Christ’s blood has been shed and His work on the cross is finished. There is no longer a reason to burn sacrifices upon an altar to shed blood as an atonement for sin. Jesus Christ offered Himself for us; for the sin debt of all mankind.
All man must do is accept His free gift in faith serving Him in truth and grace offering a robust harvest of spiritual fruit. However, like in Old Testament times many place their faith and reverence in false idols and people today rather than offering it unto an eternal God.
Many have fallen for the lies of the devil rather than following after the Truth of God. Offering their life, time, talents, and substance to false gods of this world rather than God. God clearly states those who do not serve Him will be cut off or die from the wage of their sin.
