Take Up Your Cross May 3rd 2015

Do you have inward spiritual vitality and stamina along with good standing physical health?

But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. (1 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV)

Every day I run across people who are walking, exercising, or running to better their physical health.  Or they are dieting and carefully counting calories to slim down. Others are trying to quit a habit of drugs, alcohol, or smoking cigarettes which has led to poor health and cognitive difficulties.

Rarely are people as concerned about their spiritual heart condition doing spiritual aerobics in their heart and mind as they are with their outer appearance and persona.  Don’t get my point wrong exercising, dieting, and ridding bad habits are good for our physical health, pointing back to God, as well as a great way to improve our overall physical health.  However, focusing our hearts and minds to improve our spiritual health condition is even better.

Man is always faced with good choices and better choices in life.  It is similar to taking a test to become certified or licensed in a health field career.  The candidate is presented with a question that has a good answer and a better answer.  If a person chooses the good answer it is marked incorrect.  The test is set up to reward those who choose the better answer with a correct response or credit towards passing the test according to state or national standards.

Life operates in the same fashion.  It is a great thing that many people desire to have better health and take various steps to improve their overall health but improving their physical condition will make no heavenly difference when physical death comes upon them suddenly if their spiritual heart condition is not healthy and vibrant in the eyes of God.

A man’s spiritual health determines where he ends up in the eternal realm.  A spiritual relationship based upon faith in God through Jesus Christ immediately sends a person’s spirit into the presence of God in the eternal realm.  However, those who do not have a personal relationship with God remain spiritually dead now and in the eternal realm; spending forever in the fires of Hell without God forever.
