Isaiah’s times were filled with rebellion and disobedience much like today.
He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. (Isaiah 66:3-4 KJV)
In the day in which Isaiah lived and prophesied for God there was much perverseness abounding. People did not care and were desensitized to murder and killing; whether it be of mankind or for the slaughtering of an animal for a sacrifice.
However, God does care about the lives of all mankind even when man is desensitized or ignorant to evil and wickedness man is still held accountable to God. God did care about what was chosen to be placed upon the altar for sacrifice; then and now, whether it be according to specific laws of the Old Testament for rituals in ancient biblical times or for living sacrifices unto Him in this age of grace today.
Many disregard the fact that there is a God who had authority over man and even though they can choose their own way through life God is always aware of disastrous choices and He was is never delighted or pleased in their ignorance or avoidance of His godly ways. God is abhorred at lame sacrifices and service to idols rather than what He requires.
Not only do many choose to follow the way of the god of this world living in enmity to God; but they delight in breaking His holy standard. Many find pleasure in their sin knowing it goes against God’s principles
