Where do you first seek comfort for what ails you?

And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians. (2 Chronicles 16:12 KJV)

Asa’s physical health begins to fail.  God’s Word is not clear as to exactly what this disease of his feet was.  Many diseases today affect the health of man’s feet including diabetes and bone structure issues, or soft tissue issues such as gout.  The cause is never declared in scripture but the Bible describes it as “exceeding great…” leaving no room for man to consider this was something minor or that Asa could easily deal or contend with amidst activities of daily living.

Asa chose to seek comfort and answers from practicing physicians of this ancient time rather than seeking any prayer and comfort of God.  Many who are sick today reach out to medical doctors and scientific opinions first, before taking circumstance to God in prayer for both spiritual and physical resolution and direction according to His will.  Man often turns to the things of this world first, including medicines, procedures, and treatments to bring about his physical comfort and healing, while bypassing the opportunity to communicate intimately in pressing prayers for answers and miracles of God.

God does not choose to heal all of mankind’s aches, pains, chronic situations and ill health, just as He left Paul with a thorn in his side, but He always desires and hears heartfelt prayer lifted up unto Him.

Yes, we still serve a God who can heal mankind with miracles both physically and spiritually according to His will!

takeupyourcrossredocmclearGod does give the eternal promise that His own spiritual family who are racked both by physical illnesses and spiritual woes will be perfectly healed in the eternal realm.
