Take Up Your Cross November 2nd 2015

Are you working for man or God?

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; (Colossians 3:23 KJV)

It does not matter if you are serving up burgers in a fast food restaurant, a suave lawyer in court, a professional baseball player, a stay at home mom, an air plane pilot, or whatever your job may be God calls those who are quickened spiritually alive to live according to His Word.  This includes all aspects of life including our daily work or career.

God is in charge of your “spiritual career.”  God sees your work habits, your effort put forth, your attendance, your attitude, whether it be aimed exclusively towards your earthly means of work or bearing fruit spiritually, it is God whom you represent and work to please, rather than the ideals and standards of mankind.

When mankind works to please men, rather than God, it leads to inferior work, relaxed ethics, no satisfaction, and does not satisfy man’s inner desire for God.  Pleasing men is always achieved through worldly accomplishments rather than achieving anything eternal of God.
