Take Up Your Cross November 9th 2014

We are naturally wicked from birth.

The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. (Psalms 58:3 KJV)

Yes, you and I are wicked from our physical birth.  Nobody can rightly claim to be righteous upon their own natural standing ever since sin was introduced in the Garden of Eden when the serpent beguiled Eve.

That is why a child can lie so innocently or naturally in their tender young age.  Children never struggle to lie to their parent: “I put my toys away” when reality is the toys are still strewn out all over the floor.  The child can choose to lie and be disobedient from a very young age as lying comes about naturally.  Young children never need to be taught to deceive, disobey, or rebel against authority the tendency comes naturally; rather they must be taught obedience or to obey authority.

Over time this dark spirited rebellion develops from smaller lies in a toddler’s life blossoming on to much bigger events as a child grows from infancy to adulthood.  A person’s natural spiritual condition; left to propagate is further pollinated by the god of this world.  Mankind exists in adulthood surrounded by darkness as a full-fledged liar living in enmity against the things of God unless the light of God is supernaturally introduced exposing their unregenerate and sinful spiritual heart condition.

Spiritual illumination or quickening from God is the only source that retards this natural wickedness from flourishing inside the heart of man. It works to supernaturally bring about an atmosphere conducive to spiritual growth in holiness and Christ-likeness or a “whitewashing” process throughout mankind’s journey upon this earth.

takeupyourcrossredocmclearSpiritual quickening, through faith in the finished work of Christ upon the cross, always brings about an inner heart transformation accompanied by an outer change in behavior and demeanor as the fruit of the Spirit develop and bloom.  This work is something man can never accomplish for himself rather it is the work of God through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
