Are your sins covered in His blood?
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; (Acts 3:19 KJV)
Peter is talking to a crowd of Jewish people who had missed the coming of the Messiah in this scripture verse from the book of Acts. The Jewish people had unknowingly shared in bringing about Jesus Christ’s death for sin, along with the sin nature of all mankind who are spiritually dead in sin; not able to comprehend anything of a spiritual nature.
Peter is urging these Jews to turn from their natural inclination to sin unto the righteousness of God. Peter understood personal repentance is the only way for sin to be covered in the shed blood of Jesus Christ who sacrificially paid for all sin through His physical death. Peter knew that spiritual understanding only comes to those who are willing to place their faith in God as they turn from feeding their sinful nature unto new life in Christ; for both Jews and Gentiles alike.
Not only is man’s sin blotted out or removed through genuine repentance. or remorse for their personal sin, but God offers abounding refreshment and abundant spiritual nutrition through new spiritual life lived in fellowship with God as man sojourns upon this earth.
