Do you need a spiritual temperature check?
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. (1 John 5:3 KJV)
As we love God naturally we desire to keep His commandments. The more we love God the more earnestly we desire to keep His commandments. Our love for Him, His Word, and His will and way manifests itself in our life by the degree of our obedience and willingness to live unto Him. Therefore, all who truthfully profess supernaturally possess a heart made right by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit embarking upon a lifetime journey of faith in God with an unquenchable desire to live in obedience to Him.
Not all of His servants are abiding in the same spiritual place or condition upon the narrow avenue towards eternity. Not all His servants are moving the same speed towards their eternal home in the heavenly realm. Not every servant is battling the same sin or spiritual obstacle as you or I but we are all fighting spiritual battles. Satan enjoys hampering or interfering with forward momentum upon God’s pathway. Yet God uses all our afflictions and struggles to bring about His will and way as we we lean upon His promises remaining steadfast and confident in Him.
God promises us:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (Psalms 23:4 KJV)
Servants of God all possess a natural spiritual camaraderie or unity binding them together. They share in immense love for the things of God. This agape love serves to bind or draw His servants together by honoring their differences giving liberty in Christ according to His Word. God’s army contends for the faith using the power of His God’s Word, giving honor and glory to Him, and not focusing upon self-will but His will.
When a person professing to love God stops producing a harvest of fruit of the Spirit and living for God seems grievous and binding it is time to have a spiritual love temperature check. Either the individual wanes lukewarm in their love of God or His presence was never supernaturally dwelling within them.
God clearly teaches living His way is not burdensome but restful, peaceful, and marked by His love:
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30 KJV)
Are you struggling daily in your relationship with God because you fail to spiritually rest while allowing His supernatural love to permeate everything as your walk with Him?
