Does your spiritual life need a health checkup?
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7:1 KJV)
Paul is writing to remind his Corinthian brothers and sisters of all the wonderful promises they have in their personal relationship with God. This hand written letter is a moment of review for them encouraging them to consider their own personal standing in God and His wonderful eternal promises to them as a part of His spiritual family.
Paul is urging them to “keep on keeping on” in their personal walk of faith for God by focusing intently on His promises having godly reverence for His supernatural power and presence reminding them that even small and seemingly insignificant circumstances of life can cause man to jump spiritually off track easily falling into the dark and deadly ways of the god of this world in the blink of an eye.
Living godly in an ungodly world, on the other hand, perfects and cements the holiness and righteousness of God within quickened mankind. Paul knew these Corinthian believers needed encouragement in moving forward in their walk with God from milk to meat of the gospel message increasing their holiness in the power of God as they remain steadfast in this crazy and heavily wicked leaning world.
