Take Up Your Cross October 2nd 2014

To the chief Musician upon Neginah, A Psalm of David. Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Psalms 61:1-2 KJV)

This Psalm, like other Psalms, is a song likely meant to be sung in services in biblical times; worshiping and lifting up God.  This Psalm was inspired and written by David in some low and desperate times in his life.  We all have desperate times in life.

Man has only two choices in low and anxious times of life:

One solution is to look around at all the things this world has to offer to numb or pacify raw emotions making our troubles seem less overwhelming.  The world has many solutions to appease our feelings and numb us to the harsh pain in troubling times but these readily available worldly answers are temporary in nature; often leave mankind in worse shape than before the situation first reared its ugly head.

The other choice is to lift our eyes up unto the things of God.  His ways are far superior to any answers the world can offer and His ways work to propel towards eternity with lasting rewards.  His solutions contain complete and lasting answers to all of life.  Focusing upon or honing onto  His answer and His way is always the perfect solution to any problem or situation we face.

God is The Rock, the only stability, especially in the times of many overwhelming conditions surrounding us.  God is set above us on a firm and lasting foundation, amid any circumstances or situations brewing about upon the earth.  We can look to Him in any circumstance and He will reach down and wrap us in the safety of his spiritual “seatbelt” upon His bosom through any storms raging about in life.

takeupyourcrossredocmclearKeep your focus set upon the things of a big God and the troubles about you will diminish; becoming smaller in intensity and strength as you focus upon the greatness and strength of God. He will steer you through any desperate times leading you to the safety and security of eternity spent with Him for evermore.
