Temperate in All Things
1 Corinthians 9:24 (KJB) Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things.
It is not good enough for a man to be temperate in just the things he desires to bring under the control of God. God desires that every man bring all things under His control. Life is not a daily smorgasbord where a man can feast on his favorite sin if he so chooses.
Certainly, you understand that dealing with sin and mirroring the image of God is a lifelong spiritual maturing process. Though a man is made perfect in His standing with God immediately upon his salvation the process of changes and renunciation of his personal sin happens daily throughout his lifetime.
A man should always strive to agree with God and allow Him to change his heart as necessary to be in spiritual alignment with Him.
A life of a man or woman of God is a consistent removal of sin and identifying more and more with the holiness and righteousness of God. This spiritual process is divinely completed upon entry into eternity in fellowship with God brings about a mastery of moderation in all things.
