That They Might Know Thee
December 18th, 2019
John 17:3 (KJB) And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
If you were to sit down and take stock of the number of people you run across and are familiar with daily, for most this list would include numerous individuals. Everyone from the mailman to the stock boy at the local store, to neighbors, and associates at work. However, do you really know these individuals in your day to day life?
This verse is speaking about knowing the one and only true God. This knowing goes way beyond being acquainted with Him. You see, it is not enough to recognize who He is, to speak fondly of Him, or to be aware that He exists among us in this world. You must know Him with your heart.
This verse is speaking about knowing God and His Son Jesus Christ personally. This kind of personal familiarity is something much different than being mindful about Him. Knowing Him is to recognize God and know Jesus Christ on a personal heart level.
You see, God sent His Only Son in the human form for paving the way for each of us to personally know Him and choose to identify with Him. This personal recognition and appreciation of who God is and who we are nor ever will be without Him, ushers in eternal life.
