The Devil is Hungry
1 Peter 5:8 (KJB) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
It is true, the devil is hungry.
However, his appetite is not hunting after the kind of scrumptious foods we like to eat. The devil is hungry for your soul. Yes, he desires to devour your soul and mine. His spiritual appetite knows no limits or boundaries.
This verse instructs each of us to be diligent and sober-minded. This means that each of us must pay close attention to our surroundings, what our eyes and ears take in, what comes out of our mouths, and what our filter allows to be presented and broadcast in our minds and to affect our actions.
Though the devil can only persecute and harass regenerated hearts of God’s children he can dine on and devour the many lost souls wandering about in this world.
Just as a vicious lion lays in wait to devour his prey, the devil is always lurking nearby attempting to find cracks and crevices in our armor that he can use in introducing his brand of spiritual darkness into our minds and for unfavorably affecting our actions.
