The Due Order
1 Chronicles 15:13 (KJB) For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
What exactly is the due order?
What is a breach made upon a person?
This verse is for a two-fold purpose. First, the man speaking here in this verse is David, who admits that in his first attempt to bring home the Ark of the Covenant it was not done in the right manner and was not pleasing to God. God gave strict instructions as to how the Ark was to be moved. However, these directions were side-stepped out of carelessness, and a lack of understanding about the critical nature of such a move.
The penalty for this lackadaisical attitude toward God and in moving the Ark of the Covenant was significant. This spiritual negligence in this move brought death, or a breach, to the two men moving it. In other words, disobedience brought death.
David was determined this second time to move the Ark of the Covenant with due order. David had learned an essential lesson in the importance of following any procedures God divinely set in place. God’s judgment resulted in the death of two men when God’s precise measures were sidestepped.
