The Goodness of The Lord
Lamentations 3:25-26 (KJB) The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
I ran across these passages taken out of context recently on a friend’s social media post. Friends, please be careful concerning the spiritual meals you take in to your mind and digest into your heart. Not all that you see and read will accurately represent those truths that God has given for our learning and application.
Jeremiah is speaking about the goodness of The Lord and that He is good, especially to those who earnestly seek Him, not just give Him lip service. This biblical truth is repeated throughout the canon of scripture and is one that each of us needs to understand and apply each day.
Proper insight concerning the twenty-sixth verse is essential. It does not direct us to just reflect inwardly about salvation and the goodness of The Lord. No, He leads us to apply these truths to our hearts and to reach out, sharing this hope to other hurting souls in need of salvation. You see, God does not want us to keep salvation to ourselves. Each child of God should is filled with the joy of the Lord to overflowing. This hope should rise from every spiritually softened heart spilling out in our conversations and in dealing with others about us in this world.
Quietly waiting is meant for just a short time as God does His spiritual work in hearts and minds. This spiritual work naturally propels us to speak to others about the goodness and grace of God, which continually wells up in regenerated souls like a fountain of refreshing water.
