The Lord Could “Smell” Fear
Acts 18:9-10 (KJB) Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: 10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.
How many times are we afraid to reach out to hearts with the gospel message, just like here was the Apostle Paul. We look individually and collectively to what God has directed us to accomplish in His name, and we often tremble in both anticipation and fear of what might come our way during this process.
It is true, the spiritual fight is real and can be spiritually rocky, but Oh, the blessings found in doing the will of the Lord with our life. God never promised that sowing seeds among the rampant wickedness at work on this earth would be pleasant and palatable at every point. However, God promises to direct and to protect us in every step of the way and to bring peace where there may be lingering fear and anxiety.
Just like in this particular case with Paul, God always knows what is hiding around the next corner and hovering along the next horizon. Yes, God always knows what is to come, and He can smell worry and panic a mile away and will lead us in the way forward bringing Him all the honor and glory.
