The Night is on the Horizon
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. (John 9:4-5 KJV)
Don’t let the word “works” confuse you when reading this verse. It is true that mankind cannot bring about salvation through his own works. Salvation hinges only upon the finished work of His Son Jesus Christ and the supernatural power of God operating within mankind’s heart.
However, the regenerated man is saved into a new life in Christ which always brings a heartfelt desire to do godly works. The most important work a professing person of God can do is to be busy about sowing the seed of the gospel message. God anticipates the sincere spiritually alive man will treasure his eternal salvation above anything else and eagerly desire to profess it with anyone who has not yet heard or clearly understood the eternal ramifications of the Truth.
There will be a day coming soon when mankind will not ever again have an opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel message. God is encouraging His own spiritual family to work while there is still an opportunity to sow seeds of His gospel message to hungry softened hearts.
