The Old Paths
Jeremiah 6:16-17 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.
This world is all aflutter about new and superior ways. These new-fangled ideas are all based on what I want, what I think, what I like—none of that world based crap matters. Opinions, preferences, and agendas, everyone has them, and they do not mean a thing when stacked up against what God says and what God wants, which, in the long run, is all that matters.
Only a fool wonders aimlessly in this world. God’s path is well marked, and when a person comes to a fork in the road or an unfamiliar intersection, they can ask Him for godly counsel and divine direction. It is dangerous to ask for what you want according to your flesh because God has a specific will for your life, and ignoring it or placing His plan on the back burner might be the difference between your life and death.
Besides, God knows just what we need, and when we need it, and He is willing to provide whatever is necessary to fulfill His will.
We do not need a new way or a new plan; just stay on the old paths!. God never changes (Hebrews 13:8), and we should not stray from His proven ways. In fact, new practices and procedures formed on this earth should never be a part of any discussion concerning things of God, for since followers must remain consistent with the Word of God despite what the world may fell or have to say, for His plans always trump humanity’s opinions and desires.
