The Past Is Past
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, (Philippians 3:13 KJV)
The past is over and done with. Nothing you can do or say will change it, erase it, or improve upon it. Therefore, quit reaching out for things of yesterday and begin living for the day at hand with great expectations, and cloaked in God’s promises of a brighter tomorrow.
A bright future is only made possible in God’s supernatural power and will never be apprehended according to our own power or any works of man.
Paul was moved to record this message in the book of Philippians. What a great spiritual spokesman urging us to leave our past remain in the past. Paul had a despicable and ungodly past. He spent a great deal of time and effort thwarting and persecuting God’s people.
God did not choose to remember Paul’s despicable past.
Paul was miraculously stirred by God, moving from being a “spiritual menace,” to a new undaunted spiritual light for things of God. Paul was motivated to live a new life being concerned in his heart for things of God. His time left on this earth was beset with a great number of persecutions, road blocks, and trials which only worked to grow his faith and spiritual tenacity for reaching ahead to things of the future.
