The Power and Process of Personal Conviction

John 8:9 (KJB)   And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

Sincere eternal conviction quenches man’s natural pleasure for serving sin.

A life generating acknowledgment or response found in an eternally softened heart of man places the nature of a regenerated man in alignment with the nature of God.  It is a process of daily conviction about his or her own sinful nature in an ongoing spiritual maturing process in the life of every child of God.

Mankind cannot be convicted about another’s propensity to engage or indulge in a sinful lifestyle.  Conviction is both supernaturally powerful and personal.  It serves to open a man’s spiritual eyes to the nature of his own sinful heart.

Yes, it is easy to point fingers at another’s inclination to sin, as these men did in John chapter eight.  However, it is much harder to acknowledge and apply the holy finger of God towards one’s own heart.  These men were lead to apply God’s nature to their own desperate spiritual heart condition.  Genuine conviction about the nature of sin produces both admission of personal sin and application of God’s holiness and grace.

recognition of sin without applying a personal godly response to one’s heart condition is powerless and eternally worthless.  It serves to elevate our own self-worth and standard against the sinful tendency of another person, having nothing to do with the eternal holy nature of God.

Conviction is an eternal personal process in the life of a professing Christian to eradicated sin one godly spiritual persuasion at a time as man matures in his personal relationship with Christ.
