The Power Of God’s Word
Romans 10:17 (KJB) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
It is exclusively the Word of God that has the power of salvation. God gives us His recipe in this verse above from the book of Romans to challenge us and to change a lost heart condition with His inner heart work.
Sadly many preachers, revivalists, and evangelists try to introduce God to their audience without using the power of His Word in their sermon. These men attempt to rely upon witty quips, stories, and quotes to convey the message of God (Hebrews 4:12). While many of these things can interest the mind, they do not have the potential to soften spiritually or to enter the heart.
Other pastors try to “relate” to their audience by “dressing down” and playing modern music. Their updated influence might create a comfortable atmosphere or relaxed “feeling,” but, again, this alone can’t bring about a work of God in the heart.
Faith in God and the fear and reverence of God are often absent in lives today. This absence removes God from His place of authority and inserts man to govern himself. One look at the wickedness of society tells us that many are their own “boss,” having shoved God off His throne in their life.
It is necessary to place faith in the presence and supernatural power of God, rather than self, to soften and save the hearts of mankind, bringing about lasting change.
