The Resurrection of Every Believer
Romans 6:5 (KJB) For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.
A sincere believer in Christ is like Christ. This likeness is not just for a moment, but it will last forever. To get the intended context of this verse, a reader must back up his reading to the beginning of this chapter where the Apostle Paul, whom God inspired to record the book of Romans, to emphasize that a sincere person professing a personal spiritual relationship with Christ would not choose to continue to sin knowingly.
Paul espouses in numerous verses throughout scripture that a genuine believer is spiritually resurrected, or made new, for living a new spiritual life unto Christ (1 Corinthians 5:17). This revelation means that every sincere hearted believer is dead unto sin and resurrected alive unto Christ. Or in other words, he or she will choose to live for Christ and to die unto sin and to self.
Every sincere believer rises to live and to serve Christ and is dead to self-serving and to sin. This spiritual concept means that every genuine believer is regenerated in heart and desires to mirror Christ, serving and savoring the will and way of God rather than to serve selfish desires or to walk in alignment with the god of this world.
