The Right Friends Make A World of Difference
Proverbs 27:17 (KJB) Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
God desires for each of us to encourage and sharpen our friends. Doing so does not mean that we choose to enter a debate or engage in a war of words with them.
In fact, a debate most often serves only to “divide and conquer” rather than sharpen and hone another person’s overall outlook and countenance.
God desires that we choose to speak words that will polish and refine the lives of others. This entails ensuring healthy topics and discussions that promote greater spiritual health, blessings, benefits and promote growth. This goal can be accomplished whether we are expressing our own opinion or standing on the solid ground of eternal truths recorded of God.
In the proper understanding of this Bible verse, I am confident you will agree that both the character and verbal expression we choose to exchange with friends make a difference in our life, their life, now and forever.
