The Road to Hell is Always Entertaining but Goes Nowhere
Romans 8:6 (KJB) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
It has been said that Hunter S. Thompson declared: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”
Maybe his daring outlook on life describes your stance on life to a tee. It indeed is quite an entertaining view of life, but indeed not a viewpoint which aligns with knowing and following things of God. Rather it seems to be a wayward highway leading straight to hell.
According to information found in Wikipedia, Mr. Thompson did personally choose to live his life on the edge. However, he also decided to take his own life in 2005. Please don’t try to find so much pleasure and entertainment in this world that you fail miserably and fall short in this life. I hope you never feel you must resort to desperate measures in seeking some relief from your troubles. God offers each of us an opportunity to have lasting peace and pleasure, but a man must choose to give up “self” to serve and savor Him.
The only viable resource for lasting peace and joy is found inside a personal relationship with God. A man left to himself will be only miserable incessantly searching for a source of lasting harmony and happiness never to be found without having fellowship with God.
